Driving myself to church, I passed a bicycle shop that was newly established in the neighborhood. In the center of the shop, there was a bike that had a mint green frame. I am not a connoisseur of bikes, but this one caught my attention. I can’t explain if it was the color or the fact that it looked brand new, either way, I slowed down to peruse it a little more. I slowly drove by the shop and admired the fresh look of this bike and thought about my first bike ride. It was a tragedy. My brother gave me one lesson on riding, and that was to maintain your balance. At first, I wobbled and swerved across the road, but then as I practiced I gained confidence in my ability and thought I had learned all I needed to know. How wrong I was! With my new found confidence, I decided to ride down a hill that was close to the elementary school I attended. At first, the ride was exciting, but then I realized that the hill curved as you neared the bottom. I pressed the brakes but the bike had picked up speed and all I could do was hang on for the ride and hope I could safely navigate the sharp turn. To make matters worse, a car was parked on the side of road I was riding on, I couldn’t stop. I went into the turn, hit the car with the bike and hit the pavement with my backside. Stunned, but still alive. I looked around to make sure no one saw my stupidity, picked up the bike and walked back home. That was my last bike ride, but not my last stupid act.
