I don’t like coffee, but I would be willing to buy you a cup. Coffee smells delicious, and I’m often tempted to try to drink some, but doing so brings back a childhood memory that was most unpleasant. No psychology degree is needed to know that I’m associating coffee with this memory and therefore I’m unable to force myself to drink it. Growing up in a family of ten children with two bedrooms was often hard. Instead of going to the doctor for every ailment that came with the package, my mom would line us up every morning to take a tablespoon dose of Cod Liver Oil. Just picture this in your mind, you’re sibling number five waiting your turn to take this medication that was the cure-all for sniffles, colds, allergies and other minor ills. Not just one morning, but every morning. Mary Poppins said “a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down”, well I can assure you, with Cod Liver Oil there is nothing that will help it go down smoothly. Mom tried to help by giving us a sip of her morning coffee. This was a forbidden drink to us children, so the idea that if we take our medicine, we would get a treat was appealing. Let me just say that after Cod Liver Oil and coffee mix, it is not an experience you want to repeat. But repeat it I did for several years. Hence my dislike for coffee. It smells good!
Enjoy your coffee while making the cards pictured. The image above was CASED from the Stampin’ Up Annual Catalog 2018 – 2019, page 60. I used Petal Pink, Grapefruit Grove, Whisper White and Soft Suede cardstocks, vellum, Versafine black ink, In-Color DSP 2018-2019, Soft Suede and Petal Pink inks. The Stamp set used was “Coffee Cafe”.
The card pictured to your right is a “Pop-up Gift Card” using a technique featured by Sandy Allnock in a youtube video and the “Coffe Cafe” stamp set. I used the retired Stampin’Up DSP “Coffee Cafe” paper along with Soft Suede and Early Espresso Cardstock. The inks used corresponds to the cardstock, plus I used the “Coffee Cup Framelits die. The Starbucks gift card was used to show you how easy it would be to insert a gift card of choice.
Enjoy your Coffee and Happy Fourth of July!
These are sooo cute! As a coffee drinker I would be ecstatic to receive a gift card to my favorite coffee place in one of these.
